Every day we witness an erosion of values, said Dr. Marat Hayrapetyan in an interview with Alpha News, addressing the Armenian authorities’ attacks on the Armenian Apostolic Church.

“There are institutions that should be respected and honored, regardless of who currently holds the position of head of state. It is sad to see this campaign against the Church. Without naming names, I will say that we need to reconsider our attitude to institutional structures,” he noted.

According to Marat Hayrapetyan, the statement made by Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II regarding the undeniable reality of the Armenian Genocide warrants special attention and respect.

“In fact, this phrase alone is enough to respect this person’s position. We should not question a fact recognized at the highest level in different countries. I consider any encroachment on our symbols and values unacceptable,” he added.

He also noted that in recent years there has been a decline in dignity in Armenia.

“Never before have we seen a situation like this, where high-ranking officials insult each other and make accusations on Facebook. Every day I am more and more astonished at how low this standard has dropped,” Hayrapetyan emphasized.
