During a survey in the Tavush region, a resident of one of the villages spoke about rural life and the challenges facing agriculture.

“We’re satisfied with the harvest; the weather has been favorable. The biggest issue is the low price of grapes,” he said.

“If it were at least 160-170 drams, it would make a huge difference. Just one tractor spraying over 9,000 square meters of land costs around 50-60 thousand drams, including chemicals and tractor fees. And I spray about nine times a year. Huge amounts of money are spent—and that’s not even counting transportation, irrigation, and wages,” the Tavush resident emphasized.

According to him, unemployment remains one of the most pressing issues: “If there are jobs, many young people will return.”
