The Armenian Patriarch of Jerusalem, Archbishop Nourhan Manougian, expressed his support for the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin and the Catholicos of All Armenians.
“In these difficult times, when our people face both internal and external challenges, the Armenian Apostolic Church remains an important pillar of national unity, faith, and hope. Therefore, any actions against the Church are also a blow to our historical memory and spiritual values.
It is deemed unacceptable for state structures to interfere in the internal affairs of the Church, as well as to support excommunicated individuals in their attempts to seize the territory of the Hovhannavank Monastery and conduct invalid liturgies.
We strongly condemn these unlawful and disgraceful actions and call on the authorities to cease interference in the internal life of the Church, to restore justice and legality, and to ensure the safe and peaceful service of the clergy,” the statement reads.
Archbishop Nourhan Manougian once again expressed his support for Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II and the entire clergy, commending their selfless service and steadfast faith. He also expressed hope that state authorities will take reasonable steps to preserve public harmony, the rule of law, and respect for the national spiritual heritage.
