US and Azerbaijan create new strategic cooperation platform

During her visit to Baku, US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs, Allison Hooker, announced the launch of a new Strategic Working Group between the United States and Azerbaijan. According to Azerbaijani media, the group will be headed by Sonata Coulter, US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State overseeing policy toward Russia and Central Europe.

Hooker noted that her first visit to Azerbaijan coincided with an important milestone — the implementation of agreements reached on August 8 in Washington. The new working group, she said, will serve as the foundation for a future Charter on Strategic Partnership. During the meeting, the parties discussed key areas of cooperation: trade, energy, security, regional integration, and the promotion of peaceful dialogue between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
