How did it happen that Azerbaijani oil will be transported free of charge to Armenia through Georgia? Is this part of the Armenian-Azerbaijani peace process, or is it the “second act” of the Kazakh wheat operation? Energy expert Armen Manvelyan told Alpha News that this is yet another political show.

“How can Armenia import oil if there are no oil refineries here? Armenia does not need oil; we import it from the EAEU, from Russia and at comparatively low prices. In other cases, these are one-off actions aimed at serving the regime’s false peace agenda,” the expert said.

According to Manvelyan, Azerbaijan cannot supply oil to just any country, since it already has contracts with other states and obligations that it must fulfill.

The expert also noted that over the past 10 years, Azerbaijan’s oil exports have only decreased.
