‘Smart’ crimes of Armenians in US targeted by FBI – Marina Samson

Marina Samson, founder and head of the legal office Samson Law, spoke to Alpha News about the criminal situation within the Armenian community in the United States.
According to her, keeping precise state statistics is difficult, since Armenians are not categorized separately in US federal and state courts and are generally registered as “white.”
In response to the observation that about 1 million Armenians live in California, and that prisoners make up around 2–3% of the community, Marina Samson noted: “We must also take into account the number of undocumented residents, in which case the overall picture may be larger.”
She also explained why the Armenian community comes under the attention of law enforcement. “Armenians live in concentrated areas, and therefore they end up in the focus of federal bureaus. Unlike other groups that are more prone to street-level violent crimes, Armenians are more often involved in white-collar crimes—financial fraud, banking schemes, and medical insurance manipulations,” she said.
Marina Samson emphasized that it is precisely these types of “smart” crimes that, over time, become the target of federal authorities, since they cause significant damage to the state budget.
