The fact that open support is being voiced today from various centers toward Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan indicates not the strength of his position, but rather, on the contrary, serious risks, political strategist Vigen Hakobyan told Alpha News.

According to him, the declarations of support coming from the European Union and Turkey show that “everything is not normal” regarding Pashinyan’s prospects. “If Pashinyan’s position were truly strong, there would be no need for such statements of support now… It turns out there is a major threat, and in order to mitigate that threat, everyone feels the need to unite to help him,” Hakobyan said.

Hakobyan argued that the main precondition for receiving support from the West’s “globalist wing” is pursuing a consistent Russophobic policy in Armenia. He also emphasized that, unlike the Armenian authorities, European officials openly point out who this “hybrid war” is directed against.

Speaking about relations with Russia, the political strategist observed that Pashinyan regularly tries to make “reverences” toward Moscow, presenting his actions as gestures of “goodwill.”

“Pashinyan repeatedly makes reverences, trying to swing the pendulum back—sometimes doing favors for Russia, then returning again to his main patrons,” Hakobyan added.

He also noted that Washington’s support is not merely political but carries a deep geopolitical context, in which the Armenian prime minister plays only a limited role.
