The potential integration of Armenia’s and Azerbaijan’s energy systems falls within the broader framework of the so‑called “Trump Route” project, energy expert Vahe Davtyan said in an interview with Alpha News.
According to him, the purpose of this project is not only to ensure land transport connections, but also to establish new electricity and gas transmission links in the region.
“The aim of this program is, on the one hand, to ensure the supply of electricity to the Nakhichevan exclave, and on the other hand, to connect to Turkey’s energy system and enter the European market,” the expert said.
According to Davtyan, Azerbaijan is already carrying out construction work on the Jabrayil–Nakhichevan high-voltage transmission line, which Baku presents as a new energy hub.
