Villagers block Sevan–Martuni–Getap Highway

Tensions have arisen in the Gegharkunik region. Residents of Berdkunk village and several nearby villages blocked the Sevan–Martuni–Getap highway in protest.

According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, the protest is connected to fishing. Although the government has already permitted fishing, environmental inspectors are creating artificial obstacles for the villagers.

It took about an hour to reopen the road. The people warned that if their concerns are not addressed, the protests will continue and roads will be blocked again.
