At least 20 US Air Force military transport aircraft arrived in Armenia and Azerbaijan ahead of the visit of US Vice President JD Vance, Sputnik Armenia reports.
Vice President JD Vance will be on an official visit to Armenia on February 9–10. From Yerevan, he will travel to Baku.
According to Sputnik Armenia, most of the planes arrived in Yerevan and Baku between February 4–8. Monitoring data indicates that 12 military transport planes arrived in Armenia, while another 9 flew to Azerbaijan. The aircraft mostly flew from US bases, with refueling stops at the Ramstein Air Base in Germany.
Almost all flights were carried out by Boeing C-17A Globemaster III heavy military transport aircraft, which can carry up to 77.5 tons of cargo.
In addition, a specialized US Air Force transport aircraft for special operations forces—the Lockheed Martin MC-130J Commando II—also flew to Yerevan and Baku. Two more flights were made to Georgia.
