Speaking with Alpha News, Russian journalist Abbas Juma commented on the situation around Iran and the negotiations between Washington and Tehran, the visit of US Vice President JD Vance to Armenia and Azerbaijan, and explained why the Americans decided to stop supporting the Kurds in Syria. According to the expert, alongside negotiations between Washington and Tehran, the US is preparing for a force-based scenario.
“Iranians are in a rather vulnerable position. The 12-day war and its results were not a defeat for Iran, but it was a situation in which the country suffered significant losses. On both sides, a huge number of people died. Iranians, aware of this, will naturally do everything possible to hold on to negotiations. They also understand that their opponent is in a vulnerable position. Trump does not want war, I think that is obvious. There is no guarantee that this strike will be ignored by the Iranians as it was before. Yes, last time the Iranians swallowed it, delivered a similar formal strike, which in turn was swallowed by the Americans. But this time the Iranians, in my opinion, have already warned at all possible levels that any attack will no longer be perceived as a formality. It will be the opening of a door leading to full-scale war. The US wanted everything to happen without them. The bet was initially placed, of course, on protests. But that strategy failed.
After the 12-day war, many experts—including myself—believed that the protest potential had been exhausted. But very soon we saw another wave of terror rise again. Many were arrested, imprisoned, and executed. And executions will continue for some time. Does this mean the problem is resolved? That what we saw will not happen again? No, of course, the possibility remains. The deeper layer is still preserved, sleeper cells can be activated at any moment. For example, if negotiations fail. That would be another attempt to rock the boat,” Juma said.
