Iran’s Embassy in Baku issued a statement regarding the incident that occurred in the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic.

“In response to numerous inquiries from the media of the Republic of Azerbaijan concerning alleged drone attacks in the direction of the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic, and to inform the public, we state the following:

The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Baku has been informed about this incident by the relevant Azerbaijani state authorities, and our side is currently examining the details.

Maintaining and developing friendly relations with neighboring countries, especially with the Republic of Azerbaijan, is a fundamental policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran. In this regard, claims that the attack was carried out from Iranian territory are entirely baseless.

Following military aggression against Iran by the criminal United States and the Zionist regime, which kills children, the Islamic Republic of Iran, relying on its legitimate right to self-defense, has in recent days taken certain measures against US and Zionist military bases. These actions were in no way directed against friendly and neighboring states—the targets were exclusively the military bases of the aggressors.

The Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran officially and openly announce their military operations and inform the public accordingly.

Given the ‘misleading operations’ conducted by the Zionist regime to create tension between neighboring countries, as well as the recent provocations of so-called ‘false flag’ operations, the incident in Nakhichevan must be thoroughly investigated,” the statement reads.
