Lebanon’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has revoked the accreditation of Iran’s ambassador and declared him persona non grata, according to a statement from the Lebanese Foreign Ministry.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned Iran’s chargé d’affaires in Beirut, Tufiq Samadi Khoshkhouyi. He was received by the Secretary-General of the Ministry, Ambassador Abdel Sattar Issan, who conveyed the decision of the Lebanese state — to revoke its agreement to the accreditation of Iran’s appointed ambassador Mohammad Reza Shibani, declare him persona non grata, and demand that he leave Lebanese territory no later than Sunday, March 29, 2026,” the statement reads.
In the same context, Lebanon’s Foreign Ministry recalled its ambassador to Iran, Ahmad Suweidani, for consultations, after Beirut characterized Tehran’s actions as a violation of the diplomatic norms and protocols in force between the two countries.
