The image of the Holy Mother of God has served as a source of inspiration for Armenian mothers for centuries: Catholicos of All Armenians

Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II has issued a message on the occasion of the Feast of the Annunciation of the Holy Mother of God.

“On the occasion of the Feast of the Annunciation of the Holy Mother of God, we offer our Patriarchal Blessing and congratulations to our devout people in the Homeland and in the Diaspora.

This spiritual feast has been proclaimed a Day of Blessing for women awaiting the joy of motherhood. In churches, upon the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, a prayer of blessing is offered, and expectant mothers receive a blessing, asking God to grant them a loving, healthy and happy life, as well as good and worthy children.

The faithful and virtuous image of the Holy Mother of God has served as a source of inspiration for mothers for centuries. Following the radiant example of the Holy Mother of God, Armenian women in times of hardship overcame trials with unconditional submission to the will of God, preserving their steadfast and unwavering faith and love for Christ, while living with an unyielding devotion to their nation and Homeland,” the Catholicos’s message reads.
