At least 16 people have been injured in a shooting at a school in southeastern Turkey, TASS reports, citing Turkish media.
The attack was carried out by an 18-year-old who was killed during the operation to apprehend him. The incident took place in Shanlıurfa province in southeastern Turkey, at a vocational high school.
The attacker entered the school grounds and opened indiscriminate fire with a long-barreled weapon in the courtyard, before forcing his way into the building and continuing to shoot inside. Some students fled the building by jumping from windows, the channel reported.
Initially, it could not be ruled out that the attacker may have taken hostages. All those injured have been taken to hospital, four of whom are in a moderate condition.
