Strong Armenia party’s Artashat office head charged: lawyer

Asmik Amirzadyan, head of the Strong Armenia party’s local office in Artashat and a mother of five, was detained in the city this morning. This was reported to journalists by lawyer Lusine Martirosyan.

According to her, she was initially not permitted to meet with her client. A meeting was only secured after appeals were made to the office of Armenia’s ombudsman and to the head of the Anti-Corruption Committee.

The lawyer specified that charges have already been brought against Amirzadyan, but declined to disclose the details. She noted only that her client does not admit guilt, and that the question of a pretrial measure is currently being decided.
