An evening dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of composer Khachatur Avetisyan and to the memory of the victims of the Genocide was held at the concert hall of California State University.

The recently formed “Haykyan” choir made its debut performance, and has recently been appearing regularly on major stages across California. The conductor was the composer’s son, Mikael Avetisyan.

During the evening, works by the renowned composer were performed by musicians and singers living in the United States, as well as those who arrived from Armenia.

According to participants, holding such events helps prevent the world from forgetting or denying the crimes committed more than a century ago.
