Nikol Pashinyan is threatening people, there will be no war. That is what one local resident said during a street poll in the Ararat region, commenting on the prime minister’s statements that war would break out in September if the ruling Civil Contract party is not re-elected in the upcoming parliamentary elections.
“With statements like these he is intimidating people, especially families with servicemen. I think war will come if he is re-elected,” said another respondent.
Most of those polled believe that the fragile peace that has taken hold is likely temporary, as anything can be expected from Ilham Aliyev.
“Who would believe a man who makes such statements? I did vote for him, I admit, but I regret it now. After statements like these, no one will vote for him,” another respondent stressed.
