Joe Manganiello, the well-known American actor, producer, and director of Armenian descent, star of the series True Blood and the Magic Mike duology, has announced a memoir titled Bloodlines.

The book will be released on October 13 by Avid Reader Press, which describes it as “a deeply personal and emotionally expansive work.”

It will be a candid story of the actor’s struggle with serious autoimmune diseases, as well as a journey through family history that led him to ancestors who survived the Armenian Genocide and to an understanding of the nature of inherited trauma.

Joe Manganiello’s great-grandmother, Terviz Darakjian, miraculously survived the Armenian Genocide in 1915, but her husband and eight children were killed by the Turks. The actor has spoken publicly about his ancestors’ story on numerous occasions and has made a pilgrimage to his historic homeland.
