The suspension of all fish product supplies from Armenia to Russia will have no consequences for Russian consumers, the Fish Union reported.

“The wide diversification of external trout supply sources, combined with the steady development of Russian trout farming, will ensure stable supply volumes and minimize the impact of the halt in supplies from Armenia on the Russian consumer. Increased trout supplies from other countries, such as Turkey, China, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Georgia, as well as growth in output from Russian trout farms will prevent price increases for trout,” the organization stated.

According to them, the basis of supplies from Armenia is aquaculture trout, both chilled and frozen. “In 2025, the share of aquaculture trout imports from Armenia accounted for around 7% of the Russian trout market (by weight). In January–May 2026, Russian imports of Armenian aquaculture trout grew year-on-year by 20% in volume terms, to 3,000 tonnes, accounting for around 10% of total Russian trout imports (in physical terms).”
