Paraguay national team should not have made the playoffs: Robert Gasparyan

“It’s good that everything started well, with a win for the Brazil national team. The team was losing the first half 0:1, but in the second half scored two goals in the final seconds of the match and managed to snatch a victory. That, too, was unexpected. Speaking of surprising events, this day can generally be considered one of the most unpredictable of the World Cup. It was also a big surprise that the Japan national team showed such a level of play against Brazil,” Gasparyan noted.
Touching on the match between the national teams of Paraguay and Turkey, Gasparyan noted that an injustice had occurred.
“What happened in the following games was simply unfair, in my view. The Paraguay national team should not have made the playoffs at all. As a result of completely unsportsmanlike tactics, the team advanced from the group stage: in the match against Turkey, they did not play football at all, they just lay on the pitch and ran down the clock, securing the win. And in the final round, where nothing was at stake, they simply finished the match 0:0, which turned out to be entirely sufficient to advance to the next stage,” the commentator emphasized.
Assessing the German national team’s play, he emphasized that, statistically, the team looks exceptionally powerful both in terms of squad composition and tactical preparation and coaching staff work.
