Europe is turning a blind eye to repression in Armenia: Aregnaz Manukyan

At the “Freedom for political prisoners” protest in Yerevan, Aregnaz Manukyan, a member of the “Mother Armenia” party, sharply criticized both Armenia’s current authorities and the senior European officials present in the Armenian capital these days.

Manukyan accused the leaders of European institutions of turning a blind eye to repression in the country and of encouraging authoritarianism. “Armenia is steadily sliding toward a fascist regime, and this is happening to applause from Ursula von der Leyen, Kaja Kallas, and other senior EU officials. Yes, it is your fault that Armenia’s ‘little Hitler’ is carrying out repression and going unpunished for it. It is your fault that Armenia has turned into an open-air political prison,” Manukyan said.
