Alen Simonyan, Speaker of Armenia’s National Assembly, has declined a future parliamentary mandate. “I want to rest a little,” he told journalists, adding that he intends to focus on his personal life.

At the same time, Simonyan stressed that he has no plans to leave the Civil Contract party and sees himself in politics only as part of Nikol Pashinyan’s team.

He also called “absurd” reports suggesting that he had been offered the post of President of Armenia.
