Government allocated 1.9 billion drams to Haypost to save it from bankruptcy: Mesrop Manukyan

By a decision of the Government of the Republic of Armenia dated August 15, 2024, more than 1.9 billion drams were allocated to replenish the charter capital of Haypost CJSC in order to save it from bankruptcy. This was reported in the National Assembly by Mesrop Manukyan, deputy from the “Armenia” bloc.

At the same time, he noted that, according to a report available in open sources, 1 billion 357 million drams were obtained from the disposal of shares, which, according to Manukyan, resulted from the sale of the post office building on Saryan Street, and these funds were also used to pay salaries to the company’s employees.

“How can one deny the money and jobs provided by the government? Babken Tunyan said that the payroll fund had not increased, but in 2019, according to a Grant Thornton audit, it stood at 770 million drams, and today it already stands at 1 billion 300 million drams. If a company operates at a loss by the end of the year, this gap must be covered either through a loan or through capital replenishment by the owner. The state was right to provide financial support to Haypost, but denying this fact is unacceptable,” he said.

Speaking about renovation work at kindergartens in Yerevan, Manukyan noted that it often drags on for 6-8 years.

“Do you know how many years it takes to build or renovate a kindergarten in Yerevan? 6, 7, 8 years, and the work still isn’t finished. Let’s go together, for example, to kindergartens No. 95, 105, and 137. At kindergarten No. 95, children have already been placed there, but the sewage system in the basement hasn’t been cleared, and the yard is in a deplorable state. It’s simply a disgrace,” he added.
