The Kocharyan family is a target for Pashinyan: a political directive has been issued

After more than 7 hours of investigation, the Anti‑Corruption Court has arrested Sedrak Kocharyan, the eldest son of Robert Kocharyan, Armenia’s second president, for 2 months. His right to be visited is restricted, except for his wife and children.

“Here we are dealing with unlawful persecution with a political context,” lawyer Alexander Kochubaev told reporters.

The court accuses Sedrak Kocharyan of money laundering, as well as of abuse of official powers and of aiding and abetting the receipt of a bribe on an especially large scale.

The statute of limitations for the charges brought is between 20 and 25 years, and the lawyer considers it illogical to justify the arrest on the grounds that Sedrak Kocharyan might have interfered with the judicial proceedings.

“For these and other reasons, we see elements of unlawful prosecution in this,” the lawyer noted.
