Only Pashinyan talks about Russian Railways being “toxic”, sanctions don’t stop the company from moving freight to Europe too: Overchuk

Yerevan has not discussed with Moscow the question of transferring the concession for the South Caucasus Railway, and no official requests have been received. This was stated by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk.

“Pashinyan tells us that Russian Railways is supposedly toxic for Armenia because of some sanctions. But Russian Railways carries freight across Russian territory, including transit shipments, for example, to Europe, and no one except Pashinyan raises the question of any toxicity or sanctions regarding Russian Railways,” he told journalists.

As a reminder, Pashinyan previously stated that a friendly solution needs to be found regarding the railway, and that the problem is that Armenia could miss the opportunity to integrate into the international transport network.
