Representatives of Churches for Middle East Peace reaffirm their support for the Armenian Apostolic Church

Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, received representatives of the organization Churches for Middle East Peace on September 9 at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, accompanied by Archbishop Vigen Haykazyan, His Eminence and Director of Inter-Church Relations for the Eastern Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church (AAC) of America. The Archbishop presented the Catholicos with the work being carried out by the organization toward establishing peace in the Middle East and supporting Christian communities.

The Catholicos of All Armenians praised the organization’s activities, particularly its efforts to strengthen peace, protect the rights of Christian communities, and reinforce cooperation between churches. In his remarks, His Holiness noted the ongoing conflicts in the world, particularly in the Middle East, and the resulting humanitarian crisis. In this context, the Catholicos also raised the issues of protecting the rights of forcibly displaced Artsakh Armenians, securing the return of Armenian prisoners held in Baku, and preserving the Armenian spiritual and cultural heritage of Artsakh.

The Armenian Patriarch also touched on the current challenges facing the Holy Armenian Apostolic Church and the Armenian people, expressing gratitude to the organization for its support of the Church and the Armenian people. During the conversation, members of the delegation reaffirmed their support for the Armenian Church and expressed their readiness to continue efforts to raise awareness of the difficulties facing the Armenian people…

The meeting also addressed the preservation of the Armenian presence and Christian heritage in the Middle East, as well as the challenges facing Armenian communities in the region. In this connection, the importance of joint efforts by the churches for the sake of peace, justice, and ensuring a dignified and secure life for the peoples of the region was noted.
