On September 6-10, Armenian Film Festival will be held at The Alex Theatre, Laemmle Glendale and the Hero House in Glendale. The idea of hosting a film festival belongs to “Haykino”. “Haykino” was founded in 2015 by Armen and Mary Karaoghlanyan. The company organizes its first festival on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Armenian cinema.

Michael Goorjian’s “Amerikatsi” will be the opening night film at the Alex Theatre on Wednesday, September 6, while Sev Ohanian’s debut film “My Big Fat Armenian Family” will be screened as the closing night film on Sunday, September 10.

The festival will feature several panels, including a discussion with director Michael Goorjian and producer Arman Nshanian about the filming in Armenia, as well as a discussion and book signing event with legendary Howard Kazanjian. The program of the Armenian Film Festival will feature 12 short films, including Oscar-qualifying LA Shorts top prize winners Garin Hovhannisian’s “Nowhere” and Ophelia Harutyunyan’s “It Takes a Village….”.
