Russian journalist and war correspondent Timofey Yermakov shared his perspective on Russian-Armenian relations in an interview with Alpha News against the backdrop of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory.

“The memory of the victory in the Great Patriotic War, the memory of the victory over Nazism and fascism, should be carried through the years not only in our hearts but also in our minds, because minds are now subject to various attacks in the information, hybrid and cognitive war,” Yermakov said.

According to the war correspondent, the Armenian leadership needs to change its tactics in relations with Russia and take advantage of the experience of the Russian armed forces to develop its own army.

“First of all, the Armenian government needs to learn how to properly engage with its strategic partner, Russia, rather than doing what it’s now doing. But as far as I understand, these people are not capable of this. Therefore, most likely, these people simply should not be in power, others should do this. Because the reality is that only Russia is the partner in the military alliance in the CSTO that can teach the Armenian army. Because now we are the most combat-ready army on the Eurasian continent. Arm the army, prepare it, and prepare it not just at some operational-tactical level, but in all types of weapons, in all types of tactics and strategy,” the journalist emphasized.

Touching upon Nikol Pashinyan’s visit to the May 9 Parade in Moscow, Alpha News’ interlocutor noted that the Armenian leader is unreliable in his approaches to Armenian-Russian cooperation.

“Pashinyan has been playing a very dangerous game for a long time and is walking on very thin ice. And when this ice breaks, it is unclear what will be waiting for him there. Therefore, I would not yet speak simply based on the fact of Pashinyan’s arrival in Moscow on May 9 as some kind of warming or some kind of desire to improve relations with us, because it is unclear what he will do next,” he said.
