Arrest of Robert and Sedrak Kocharyan is purely political case: Agnesa Khamoyan

Neither the Investigative Committee nor the Prosecutor’s Office has provided any legal grounds for choosing a measure of restraint as strict as arrest. This was stated by Agnesa Khamoyan, a member of the Armenia faction in the National Assembly, in a conversation with journalists in the courtyard of the Anti-Corruption Court.
As a reminder, the Anti-Corruption Court is considering the prosecutor’s office’s motion to extend the unlawful arrest of Robert and Sedrak Kocharyan.
“For two months now, Robert Kocharyan, the second president of the Republic of Armenia, and his son Sedrak Kocharyan have been held at the Yerevan penitentiary institution. I personally saw the president’s conditions of detention, which, to put it mildly, do not meet the standards set by the government. And now, when the prosecutor’s office is seeking to extend the arrest by another two months, it again presents no facts,” the lawmaker said.
According to her, all this once again proves that the ongoing proceedings lack legal grounds.
“This case is purely political: the personal wish and revenge of one person,” Agnesa Khamoyan concluded.
