Zareh Sinanyan’s office has been focused on the split of the Diaspora from day one, Robert Margaryan, the lawyer and political scientist told Alpha News.

“About two months ago, I received an invitation to participate in the Congress of Armenian Lawyers, but I did not respond. It was sent to me two or three times. The invitation came with Zareh Sinanyan’s program. Of course, I would not participate in that event because I have a clear position regarding the activities of that office. The goal of that office was to split the Diaspora from day one. I was surprised to learn that my name appeared on the guest list, as I am not actively involved in legal practice. Meanwhile, I have several colleagues who are actively involved in law and could have played a greater role in helping Armenians, but they did not receive the invitation,” Margaryan said.

According to the political scientist, it is ridiculous when the Armenian authorities refuse to use the word “self-determination”, while Sinanyan is having a discussion on this topic.

“The name of the event suggests the discussion of serious issues, but in practice we see that it is not the case because all the works related to the Diaspora are done in a similar format. In terms of both organization and content, it was a nonsensical congress.

Among the issues discussed was the issue of the rights of the people of Artsakh, but it is strange that the office headed by Zareh Sinanyan is discussing a topic that the Armenian government has refused to discuss. It is ridiculous when the Armenian authorities refuse to use the word ‘self-determination’, but Sinanyan is having a discussion on this topic. It becomes clear that these steps are not sincere,” Margaryan said.
