The 20th anniversary edition of To Save and Project, the Museum of Modern Art’s festival of film preservation, will host a screening of two films by the founder of Armenian cinema, Hamo Beknazarian: The House on the Volcano (1929) and Land of Nairi (1930).

According to the National Cinema Center, this is a significant event in Armenian cinema.

The films were digitized and restored by the National Cinema Center.

In January 2022, Sergei Parajanov’s Hakob Hovnatanyan (1967), restored in 4K format and donated to the Museum of Modern Art, was screened as part of the To Save and Project festival. This is the first Armenian film in the collection of the museum.
