Education Minister says content of Armenian history in schools will not be affected by subject’s name
The content of the Armenian History subject in schools will remain the same regardless of the subject’s name, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Zhanna Andreasyan announced on Tuesday.
“We live in the Republic of Armenia, and schools in the Republic of Armenia must teach the history of Armenia. I would like to specifically address the absurd claims that by renaming the subject to the ‘History of Armenia’, the content that is part of our history would be left out. This isn’t about the content. The content is the same, regardless of the name.
Teaching history in every country is, first of all, a process of developing the citizens of that state. It is a priority that the teaching of history be organized and built around the axis of the state, regardless of whether the state existed in those periods or not,” she said.
