Sargis Arzumanyan: The sit-in will continue until the Goy Theater becomes independent
We sent Nikol Pashinyan a package of proposals according to which the Goy Theater should become independent, Sargis Arzumanyan, Head of the Board of the Goy Theater, told Alpha News.
“It was me who proposed to start a sit-in. I also sent a package of proposals to the Prime Minister and the Minister of Education, Science and Culture, which contains a plan according to which the Goy Theater should become independent. We also collected signatures from cultural figures. Regarding the statement of Minister Zhanna Andreasyan, which said that the Ministry allegedly proposed the theater to become independent, but the theater refused, I want to emphasize that nothing of the kind happened.
On the contrary, we told the Ministry that we wanted to be independent, but it refused. However, we make this appeal again. The sit-in will continue until we receive a positive response,” Arzumanyan said.
He noted that they have asked the public not to attend plays for the next month to apply public pressure.
“This is a protest, and this is a completely normal phenomenon. In this way, our colleagues will be able to feel what the team of the Goy Theater feels when it cannot create and has no audience. This proposal is just a way of forming a public demand,” Arzumanyan concluded.
