Victory Parade kicks off in Moscow

A military parade to mark the 79th anniversary of the Soviet Union’s Victory over Nazi Germany has started on Red Square in Moscow, Russia, with more than 9,000 people participating.

Russian President and Supreme Commander-in-Chief Vladimir Putin is watching the parade from the central reviewing stand on Red Square. The parade is attended by the leaders of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Cuba, Laos, and Guinea-Bissau. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan refused to participate in this year’s Victory Parade.
