The difficult choice is when the USA will put pressure on Armenia – Pavel Danilin
In a conversation with Alpha News, Russian political scientist Pavel Danilin commented on the statement of Matthew Miller, the representative of the US State Department, that Armenia and Azerbaijan must make difficult choices before signing a peace treaty.
“The difficult choice in the context of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations is the principle of peaceful settlement. Armenia is already tired of the constant conflict holding it back, but the Armenian society is not ready for peace on Azerbaijan’s terms. And that was the obstacle, including the agreements reached by Russia in securing a peace treaty, but they were not implemented, and in this context, the US will simply put pressure on Armenia to reach an agreement with Azerbaijan on Azerbaijan’s terms,” the expert said.
Our interlocutor has no illusions about Armenian-Russian relations, and believes that the Armenian side will make decisions, staring at the USA.
“Of course, Armenia will have to sacrifice good relations with Russia in order to get approval from the United States of America. It is an integral part of the conditions that the Americans will put before the Armenians,” Danilin concluded.
