A very difficult situation has developed in Armenian-Russian relations, one that could even be called a turning point. Political strategist Vigen Hakobyan said this on air at Alpha News.

“Russian-American and Russian-European relations are entirely different things. This is no longer the Biden era, and it is hard to say which relationship is more complicated, between the US and the EU, or between the US and Russia. US-EU relations are not allied relations; they are far more complex than US-Russia relations, which to some extent exist in the realm of mutual benefit. And when Armenia attempts, at least at the level of statements, to strengthen its relations with the European Union, which is an adversary of Russia, Russia perceives this as a hostile step,” the political strategist noted.

According to him, severing relations with Russia and seeking alternatives in economic relations will not yield real results.

“The statement that Armenia will leave the EAEU if gas prices rise is pure political manipulation. And the thesis that Azerbaijan is a guarantor of Armenia’s independence or security is complete nonsense,” Hakobyan concluded.
