The Foreign Ministry of Artsakh made a statement denying the disinformation of Azerbaijan.

The Foreign Ministry of Artsakh denies and strictly condemns the false information spread by the Azerbaijani media that Artsakh Defense Army allegedly concentrates various military equipment in different directions of the contact line. “Disseminating disinformation in media, Azerbaijan, as we have repeatedly seen, paves the ground for future provocations,” the statement says.

The Ministry has drawn the attention of international actors, including the UN Security Council, to the fact that Azerbaijan escalates tensions two days after the Armenian request to the UN Security Council to convene an emergency session on the humanitarian crisis in Artsakh. It is nothing but an attempt to distract international bodies from the humanitarian crisis provoked by the illegal blockade of the Lachin corridor by Azerbaijan.

It should be noted that since December 12, 2022 Artsakh has been under total blockade caused by Azerbaijani illegal actions. Besides, since June 2023 the people of Artsakh have been deprived of the limited supply of food, medicine and other necessities, provided through the mediation of IRCC and Russian peacekeeping forces.

Thus, due to the absence of effective steps on the part of the international community, Azerbaijan continues to violate provisions of the third-party agreement of November 9, 2020, legislate universal norms, as well as specific international legal acts adopted on the Lachin corridor, including legally binding decisions of the International Court of Justice and European Court of Human Rights on reopening of the Lachin corridor.

“We demand from all the international actors and, in particular, Russian peacekeeping forces, to immediately take measures to prevent possible provocations of Azerbaijan.
In the current situation we consider it imperative to convene an emergency session of the UN Security Council to take effective steps aimed at the complete and unconditional reopening of the Lachin corridor,” the statement says.
