Artsakh newlyweds: Wedding in Surb Hakobavank was a goal

The love story of the newlyweds began before the 44-day Artsakh war.
A lavish wedding was Arman and Mariam’s wish, but not a goal.

“The most important thing was to receive a blessing in the monastery,” Arman told Artsakhtert.

Due to the blockade, they refused luxury and organized a family dinner.

“The decision was clear. The blockade could not be the reason for canceling the wedding,” the newlyweds said.

Due to the lack of fuel, it was not so easy to organize a wedding in Surb Hakobavank monastery.

Arman, the European champion of martial sambo, lifted Mariam in his arms all the way to the monastery.

“I can’t describe this feeling… I was in the safest and strongest hands… I was the happiest,” Mariam said.

The couple from besieged Artsakh sees their future only in the homeland.

“Despite all the problems, we have to create new families and live in Artsakh,” Arman said.
