The film ‘Aurora’s Sunrise’ directed by Inna Sahakyan has won the Best Documentary Feature award at the Buffalo International Film Festival.

“Considering the ongoing situation in Artsakh, it is crucial to raise awareness about human rights issues to prevent future violence.

Aurora’s story must not be repeated, and the key to ensuring this is by keeping her narrative alive, along with the stories of hundreds of people suffering right before our eyes,” the post on the film’s official Facebook page reads.

The film ‘Aurora’s Sunrise’ is based on the Zoryan Institute’s original interview from its Oral History Collection.

The film tells the terrifying story of Aurora Mardiganian, an Armenian girl who survived the Armenian Genocide of 1915.

When the massacre began, Aurora was 14 and lived in a small town in the Ottoman Empire.
Thanks to her willpower and determination in 1917, the girl found salvation in the USA.
