Member of the Council for Interethnic Relations under the President of Russia Bogdan Bezpalko commented to Alpha News on the statements of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan against Russia in an interview with La Repubblica newspaper.

According to Bezpalko, the Prime Minister of Armenia shifts his responsibility to Russia.

“From my point of view, Pashinyan is a good politician, in the sense that he knows how to keep power. This is the reason why he very skillfully shifts his responsibility to Russia,” the expert noted.

According to him, the fate of Nagorno-Karabakh, the Lachin corridor and the Caucasus, in general, does not depend solely on Russia.

“Russia, of course, plays an important role, a big country that is interested in a peaceful course of life in the Caucasus, but the issues of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations, Karabakh, and the Lachin corridor are the responsibility of the Prime Minister of Armenia, who came to power in the wake of populism, who came to Karabakh and claimed that it was Armenia. But now he is signing documents recognizing Karabakh as the territory of Azerbaijan,” the political expert said.

The expert stressed that everything Nikol Pashinyan is doing now is simply shifting responsibility from himself to Russia.

“Russia, of course, bears its part of the blame solely in the sense that it could not somehow support those candidates who, not being populists, would really solve the issues of both Armenia and Armenian-Azerbaijani relations, including, issues of the Lachin corridor. Now, unfortunately, these opportunities for Russia are limited due to the current Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan in particular. I think that in the future the problem can be resolved, but without this politician, without this person,” Bezpalko concluded.
