Ongoing tensions in Armenian-Russian relations and possible shifts in foreign policy direction are causing serious concern in Armenian society. A poll conducted in the Armavir region revealed that people are worried about economic uncertainty, and that the situation in the country is close to catastrophic. Armavir residents sharply criticized the current authorities’ foreign policy, noting that the deterioration of relations with friendly countries is leading the country toward economic collapse and a security crisis.
“Ordinary Armenian people should stock up on essential food supplies such as flour, oil, and other foodstuffs as the country may face serious challenges. Nikol Pashinyan is pursuing the wrong policy with neighbors. He is worsening relations with friendly countries and making peace with hostile ones,” a poll participant emphasized.
In the opinion of citizens, “deteriorating relations with Russia could lead everyone into the arms of Turkey and Azerbaijan.” Local residents also expressed concern over the country’s energy security, stressing that in the event of a severance of ties with Russia, alternative options could have catastrophic consequences.
