Speaking with Alpha News, Russian political scientist Dmitry Zhuravlev commented on Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s decline to attend the inauguration of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“The Armenian Prime Minister has no intention to be Russia’s ally; he wants to be France’s ally. Pashinyan thinks that France will give more to Armenia than Russia, but he does not understand that France will not give anything. Pashinyan wants to join NATO, thinking that this will stop the Turks, but Turkey is a NATO member.

Pashinyan will not attend the inauguration of Russian President Vladimir Putin but will attend the Eurasian Economic Union meeting because he does not want to slam the door too loudly. But if the Armenian Prime Minister is not at the inauguration, this means that Russia no longer has such an ally as Armenia, at least while Nikol Pashinyan is in power,” Zhuravlev said.

According to the expert, Russia will react calmly to the absence of the Armenian Prime Minister.

“This is not Pashinyan’s first week as the head of Armenia; nothing particularly new is happening. For some reason, Pashinyan thought that he could use Russia and be friends with France, but he was wrong,” Zhuravlev concluded.
