Karen Khachanov books spot in quarterfinals in Doha

Russia’s third-ranked Karen Khachanov has become the first to reach the quarterfinal round of the Qatar ExxonMobil Open in Doha, with a prize fund of almost $1.4 million.

Khachanov defeated Hungary’s Fábián Marozsán (60th in the rankings) 6-4, 7-5 in the second round.

Khachanov’s opponent in the quarterfinals will be either Australian Christopher O’Connell (65th) or Finn Emil Ruusuvuori (43rd).
