Speaking with Alpha News, political scientist Aslan Rubaev commented on the fact that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan never used the term “genocide” in his latest speeches about the events that occurred in the Ottoman Empire in 1915.

According to the expert, Nikol Pashinyan is not able to defend Armenia’s national interests.

“It is no accident that Pashinyan avoids the term ‘genocide’ and pursues this foreign policy throughout his entire rule of the country. We saw that Pashinyan was not capable of defending Armenia’s national interests. He did everything to ensure that Armenia ceased to be a subject and could not defend its national interests. Now he hits the most important spot—historical remembrance. He is trying to replace the meanings and create a new format for Armenia, which will be completely oriented towards the West.

He wants to turn Armenia into a collective European Union where states blindly follow Western doctrines and do not know what national interests are. As Prime Minister, Pashinyan lost the war and eliminated the sense of national pride among the administration team. They do not know what it means to be guided by national interests. Today, they simply disorient Armenia, putting it in the position of a powerless state that exists without foreign policy interests and is unable to defend itself. I’m afraid to imagine how his rule will end, because at this stage, Pashinyan is trying to turn Armenia into an ordinary country of the European Union,” Rubaev said.

According to Rubaev, Pashinyan wants to destroy all the traditional values of Armenia.

“Armenia has lived remembering the historical genocide. Today, he wants to destroy all the traditional values that Armenia has stood up for. Pashinyan is moving away from traditional allied relations with Russia. He does not see normal, promising relations with post-Soviet countries, but for some reason he sees France as an ally. It is clear that he will move away from traditional alliances and look for a replacement for them in NATO and, possibly, the European Union.

However, he must understand that Armenia will never be of interest to the West. The West will use Armenia to start a big war in the South Caucasus, and the West simply does not care about Armenia’s national interests. Pashinyan today is an advocate of the West’s ideas for the destruction of Armenia. This is very sad,” Rubaev concluded.
