To prevent the third partition of Armenia

February 19 2025, 12:50

If in March 2022—a month after the start of the war in Ukraine, and after Joe Biden called Vladimir Putin a war criminal—someone in the liberal environment had said that by March 2025, representatives of Moscow and Washington would be preparing a meeting of their presidents that would “divide Ukraine and Europe”, this person would not just be ridiculed, but considered mentally ill. However, the reality is that Russia and the United States are currently conducting direct talks not only on peace in Ukraine but also on the post-war security architecture in Europe.

For the first time in several years, Russia-US talks were held in Riyadh on February 18. Both the Russian and American delegations included officials responsible for foreign policy. These are Marco Rubio and Sergey Lavrov. Following the talks, it became known that Russia and the United States have agreed that the end of the conflict in Ukraine should be lasting, sustainable, and acceptable to all parties. The parties agree that the end of the conflict in Ukraine will open the way for Russia and the United States to cooperate in the economy and geopolitics. They agreed to take the necessary steps to normalize the work of the diplomatic missions. The EU should join the negotiating table at some point, as it has imposed sanctions against Russia, etc. This is only the first step towards the normalization of relations between Russia and the United States. If London does not “stop the process” (as it did in the spring of 2022 after the Istanbul talks), if Donald Trump does not face another assassination attempt, then there is a possibility that the talks between Washington and Moscow will continue, and the division of Europe and Ukraine will become final.

Regarding Ukraine and Washington’s proposed agreement on “minerals”, which, among other things, assumes that official Kiev will deduct 50% of all revenues from licenses for the extraction of resources in favor of the United States, effectively providing Washington with a financial stake in Ukraine’s economy, we can say that the Americans will simply buy Ukraine at the expense of the weapons provided for the war with Russia. Not only will Ukraine find itself in Russia’s sphere of influence and lose territories, but it will also have to pay to be able to enter this sphere of influence. Why was the war needed then? Why did Vladimir Zelensky abandon the Istanbul agreements? And here we need to remember the history.

The first division of Greater Armenia into Western and Eastern Armenia took place in 387. The once-united country was divided by the Roman-Persian border. And already in the sixth century, Byzantium and Persia pursued a policy of depriving Armenia of the opportunity to restore its independence, and in 591, a new, second partition of Armenia took place. Why did we remember this? Because in a situation where Ukraine and the European continent are in danger of splitting, Armenia may find itself facing a third partition. Don’t get your hopes up… The entire physical depth of Armenia was destroyed on October 6, 2022, when Artsakh was surrendered to Azerbaijan.

There is no need to reinvent the wheel in this situation. Armenia should abandon the principle of confrontation with Russia in its foreign policy in favor of the interests of globalist Western elites, abandon ignoring proposals for military cooperation with Iran and return to full-fledged work within the CSTO. Armenia, also, in accordance with the text of the statement that Nikol Pashinyan and his propaganda forgot about, and which was signed by him and Vladimir Putin on April 19, 2022, should work more actively within the 3+3 regional consultative platform, the successful launch and importance of which the parties noted in the respective statement. Think about it…
