Russia’s president is addressing not the political elites but the Armenian people: Alen Gevondyan

The current authorities believe the world revolves around Armenia, but that is simply not the case. This was stated by Alen Gevondyan, a political analyst, during a live broadcast on Alpha News, commenting on Armenian-Russian relations.

According to him, Armenia must decide for itself whether to fall apart or not, while Russia is demonstrating a new and rather notable pattern.

“Russia’s leader is no longer speaking to the political state elites, he is speaking directly to the Armenian people, which is a very serious signal,” he stressed.

Gevondyan noted that Moscow is calling on Armenia’s authorities to make a clear choice between the EAEU and the EU.

“Russia has stated that any decision Armenia makes will be legitimate and lawful. One lawful path is the option of a referendum, although Armenia’s accession to the EAEU did not happen through a referendum. It must be clearly understood that this is not a threat. If we want to leave one system and move to another, there will be corresponding consequences,” the political analyst stressed.
