Yeghishe Charents’ poem “I love my Armenia” aired on Turkish television
CNN Turk is covering the elections to the National Assembly of Armenia from Yerevan and polling stations. In a published video report, alongside a journalist’s commentary, footage from a polling station is shown where Yeghishe Charents’ poem “I love my Armenia” can be heard.
The Turkish journalist went live from the polling station where Nikol Pashinyan was expected to vote. Serdar Korudjun noted that these elections are of enormous significance for Armenia and Pashinyan himself, as his main rival is Samvel Karapetyan, leader of the Strong Armenia party. He emphasized that Karapetyan is under house arrest, and that a decision was made on the eve of the elections to detain six candidates from the Strong Armenia list. According to the journalist, such developments could have been expected after the elections.
“A Pashinyan victory is possible, but one should not underestimate the opposition’s capabilities. There are many opposition parties, and if they unite, there is a chance they could prevent Pashinyan from coming to power,” Serdar Korudjun said live on CNN Turk.
It is worth noting that he is among the Turkish journalists who recognize the Armenian Genocide.
