Zhirayr Reisyan: When you give up your dignity, you will not achieve piece
There is no one in the world who does not want peace or a peaceful life, but the main aspect in this question should be national dignity.
When you give up your dignity, you lose on peace matters as well, the Syrian MP Zhirayr Reisyan said in an interview with Alpha News.
Regarding Turkish-Syrian relations, Reisyan has noted that the question of Syria’s territorial integrity is indisputable. This is a question of dignity and principles. At the same time, the MP has stated that it is impossible to achieve peace without dignity.
“I cannot give up my dignity to live in peace for two days, because even the deceptive feeling of living in peace for two days will turn into enslavement on the third day”, the Syrian MP noted, saying that “these actions cannot be regarded as peace”.
Answering the question whether he had an opportunity to present his ideas on peace as well as the policy of concession in the Artsakh situation to Armenian authorities, Reisyan said:
“There were no meetings as a member of the Syria-Armenia parliamentary friendship group”.
The MP has noted that he has been to Armenia many times and has already presented his ideas to small groups. He has also highlighted that Armenian authorities are well aware of Turkish-Syrian relations and they know the official viewpoint of Syrian authorities.
He has recalled that Turkiye’s participation in the war in Syria is indisputable. It was this country that opened the doors to terrorists.
According to Reisyan, Syrians and Syrian Armenians have been victims of various mercenaries and conspiracies for 12 years, but the most of the Syrian territory has already been liberated. He has said that the country has already confirmed its existence and it is on the way to liberate the occupied lands.
“American, Turkish and Kurdish military forces are in the northern part of Syria. And they are confronted by the determination to restore Syria’s integrity both as nation and state”, he said.
The country’s leadership never concedes its principles. The Turkish President resorted to numerous ways to meet Assad; however, the leader of Syria demonstrated a very clear position.
“As long as there is at least one Turkish soldier in my land, the meeting is impossible”, Reisyan said.
The Syrian MP does not believe that one day Artsakh can turn into Syria, becoming a bone of contention in hands of superpowers.
“The people of Artsakh stand as firmly in their feet as Syrians”, he concluded.
