Catholicos of All Armenians’ New Year address to not air on Public TV

According to the Public Television Company’s New Year’s TV schedule, the New Year’s address of the Catholicos of All Armenians will air on December 31 at 9:55 p.m., the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin reports.

“We consider it important to note that the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin and the Public TV had no discussion regarding the broadcast of the address. The TV company continues to disregard the decades-old tradition of airing the New Year’s address of the Catholicos of All Armenians, ignoring the position of the Mother See and the demands and expectations of the Armenian Church’s believers in the homeland and abroad.

Given the TV company’s working attitude, the Mother See considers it pointless to broadcast the address of the Patriarch of All Armenians on Public TV.

The address of the Catholicos of All Armenians will be broadcast through the media on New Year’s Eve, at the time set by tradition in previous years,” the statement reads.
